President Welcome Message – September 2020

Written by Kevin Tuyau (Chapter President 2020 - 2021) Hi, I'm Kevin Tuyau. I have been elected as the 2020-2021 chapter President for Golden Key Swinburne. I'd like to welcome our new members and newly elected committee. This year I celebrate 10 years on the committee. I originally started as the Secretary and have been active in the chapter’s events and volunteer work. In 2014 I won the Student Leader of the year award. When I began I had no idea about the positive experiences that Golden Key would bring me, including running workshops at conferences and being a part of the university; long after I graduated. This year also happens to bring a new set of challenges for Golden Key and the students of Swinburne. None that could have been foreseen 10 years ago. All our planned events had to be cancelled. Golden Key understands that now is the time to support each other, therefore we have been working on bringing our events to Swinburne virtually. Keep an eye out for announcements

President's Welcome Message 2019

A warm welcome to my fellow Golden Key members, I am honoured to have been afforded the privilege of serving as the President of Golden Key International Honour Society Swinburne Chapter. As an organisation, Golden Key recognises and encourages scholastic achievement and excellence among college and university students from all academic disciplines. I will continue to uphold the values of academics, leadership and service, being the three core pillars of our Golden Key International Honour Society. I join a team of enthusiastic and capable individuals with a diverse skillset on the executive committee and we are all eager to serve our roles to the best of our ability. Collectively, we must find more ways to meet the needs of exemplary, deserving members. Throughout the year, we will need your support — support that will continue to organise events that galvanise students’ lives and guide their future. Besides the events previewed in our plan, we are also open to all suggestions,

Vikhyat Dhingra | President Hi, my name is Vikhyat Dhingra, but most of my colleagues and friends know me simply as Vik. It gives me immense pleasure to carry out my first act as President by formally introducing myself and offering to each of you my warmest greetings. For starters, I have been affiliated with Swinburne University for 6 years now, having graduated with a Bachelor’s in IT in 2016, which I’ve since put to good use in my day job as a System Administrator. As a lover of lifelong learning, I’ve also committed myself to further study, having recently enrolled in a Master’s degree of Network Systems specialising in cybersecurity, which I hope to complete by the end of 2020. I have been a member of the Golden Key Society since 2015. While IT has been the subject of my academic life, I have many hobbies and interests that exist outside the realm of academia and computer technologies, the first of which is my passion as a writer. I favour the forms of poetry

President’s Farewell Message 2019

Dear My Fellow Golden Key Associates/Members, With winter, not far off, I will be signing off with this message for the final time. What an exceptional 12 months this has been, with the accolades and achievements bestowed onto our Golden Key Chapter. Each committee member has contributed to ensure each chapter standard has been fulfilled and my congratulations to those who have unlocked their potential through the three pillars of academics, leadership and service. Since being inducted, I have had the opportunity to attend two Asia-Pacific summits and organised numerous Swinburne Golden Key events. The latest Intellectual Engagement Event was one of the many key highlights, as the concept of Social Investment/Philanthropy continues to gain traction within Australia and abroad. The Swinburne Golden Key Chapter has given me the opportunity to develop my leadership skills, and as the outgoing Chapter President it has been an honour to lead and coordinate the best chapte

Golden Key Asia-Pacific Conference 2019

Written by Kevin Tuyau (Co-Vice President of Golden Key Swinburne) Chapter President Phillip Nguyen, former chapter President Justine Hall and myself (chapter Co-Vice President Kevin Tuyau) represented the Golden Key Swinburne chapter at this year’s Asia-Pacific Leadership Summit in Adelaide. At the conference we were excited to receive four awards between us for the great work our chapter had done over 2018. Being a member of Golden Key meant that I was eligible to apply for a travel grant to attend the conference, and I was lucky enough to receive one. It helped with paying for my airfare and conference registration. Being on the committee also meant that I was able to receive chapter funding, which covered my accommodation during the conference. This is an opportunity open to all Golden Key members and I highly encourage you to take advantage. This year the conference theme was “Challenge Your Thinking”, and there were many workshops and motivational speakers to help
