Wine and Cheese Info Night 2017

This year the Swinburne chapter did something a little bit different for their information session. Instead of holding 2 smaller sessions (day & night) we combined these into one evening session and provided Wine and Cheese for those that attended.

We had over 50 attendees on the night, who were able to enjoy a glass of wine and some cheese and fruit while watching the presentations. Sunnefa, our University Relations Officer, kicked off the night with a global overview of Golden Key and how it can benefit you. This was followed by a presentation from our chapter president Kevin who discussed some of the past events that the committee has put on, and the future events we have planned.

Backpack 4 Kidz

By Kevin Tuyau - Vice President Swinburne Chapter Swinburne Chapter committee members met at Swinburne University in December 2018 to create 100 stationary packs for Backpack 4 Kids Victoria. The packs were filled with pencils, pens, rulers, erasers and exercise books. The chapter also donated $300 of chapter funding to purchase the stationary items needed for the packs. Backpack 4 Kids Victoria is an organisation that provides backpacks full of essential items to children fleeing domestic violence or have lost everything in house fires. The stationary packs made by the committee will be put in the backpacks along with other items such as clothes and toiletries. A couple of days after making the stationary packs, chapter co-vice president Kevin Tuyau delivered the packs to the Backpack 4 Kids Victoria head office. New Members Reception 2017 - Perspective of a New Member

Written by Karuna Santosa - Swinburne University of Technology Research Assistant, Pro-Vice Chancellor’s Office of Student Engagement When I received a letter in the mail informing me I was invited to join the Golden Keys International Honour Society, I was quite surprised.  I had heard of the society before but I was not aware of what it did or what it stood for as a society.  The letter provided me information about a new members’ event which I was invited to attend.  I was not sure why I was receiving an invite at this stage of my studies, my marks had always been strong and my average score was steady.  So I decided to ask staff at Swinburne whether they thought it was worth paying $100 to join the society.  Interestingly enough, everyone I spoke too encouraged me to join because they believed it was a great networking opportunity.  I decided to find out more about the society before committing myself to the new members’ event.  I did this by attending the free information ses
