Golden
Key Swinburne Chapter hosted a very colourful O-week stall, full of photos and
posters, on the 24th and 25th of July to introduce Golden
Key Society and raise awareness of our goals and visions to the new Swinburne students
arriving for Semester Two. In addition, it was a chance to meet and build
relationships with existing members and promote events such as the Hot
Chocolate networking event happening later that month, along with the upcoming
Intellectual Engagement Speaker Event and Victorian Alliance Ball.
Prior to the event, the committee came together in their monthly meetings to
brainstorm and contribute ideas around enjoyable activities for students
and making it an approachable, friendly and interactive stall. We had a Spin
the Wheel game with prizes such as lollipops, redskins, GK pens, GK notepads,
fidget spinners, free hot chocolates and a challenge to win a $10 Coles Myer Gift
Card. The event was a success as our Social Officer, Deyna, organised and ensured it was a fun and engaging stall.
It was great fun interacting and speaking to students especially seeing them spin the wheel and play the games. A female student was very happy to have won the $10 Coles Myer Gift Card and she expressed that she is motivated in her studies, so that she could be invited to become a GK member.
We spoke to a GK member who visited the stall and she let us know that she had not heard of Golden Key’s events and activities. From this, she attended the Hot Chocolate event and showed interest in becoming a member of the Swinburne Chapter committee.
Overall, it was a great success
and many committee members were present to man the stall and explain to members
exactly what Golden Key was about. It was nice to be able to get to know other student societies and other Swinburne departments. If you would like to be a part of
these events and get involved, please contact us or like our Facebook page for
