Commencement Presidential Message

A warm welcome to my fellow Golden Key members,
In a world that has become highly connected and has brought those who once were isolated together, I have been given the privilege of being the President and will continue to uphold the values of academics, leadership and service, being the three core pillars of our Golden Key International Honour Society. All of the activities that are organised by Golden Key are focused on enriching the lives of our members to have a positive impact in the communities we serve.
At the 2018 Asia-Pacific Conference, our chapter received the highest standing being Gold and was also awarded a Key Chapter accolade. To have been awarded the best Asia-Pacific Key Chapter for three consecutive years in our region is a monumental feat and with my committee, we aim to maintain the outstanding work that each of our previous committees has achieved. The United Nations Global Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 was the focus of the conference that will develop and inspire confidence in each Golden Key member to unlock their potential.
I would like to thank all committee members and Swinburne University staff who continue to support our chapter, as past and present achievements would not have been possible without your assistance. Moving forward, I take great honour in the work that will be bestowed upon my tenure, as I aim to work to a future that will create wonderful new beginnings.

Vikhyat Dhingra | President Hi, my name is Vikhyat Dhingra, but most of my colleagues and friends know me simply as Vik. It gives me immense pleasure to carry out my first act as President by formally introducing myself and offering to each of you my warmest greetings. For starters, I have been affiliated with Swinburne University for 6 years now, having graduated with a Bachelor’s in IT in 2016, which I’ve since put to good use in my day job as a System Administrator. Backpack 4 Kidz

By Kevin Tuyau - Vice President Swinburne Chapter Swinburne Chapter committee members met at Swinburne University in December 2018 to create 100 stationary packs for Backpack 4 Kids Victoria. The packs were filled with pencils, pens, rulers, erasers and exercise books. The chapter also donated $300 of chapter funding to purchase the stationary items needed for the packs. Backpack 4 Kids Victoria is an organisation that provides backpacks full of essential items to children fleeing domestic violence or have lost everything in house fires. The stationary packs made by the committee will be put in the backpacks along with other items such as clothes and toiletries. A couple of days after making the stationary packs, chapter co-vice president Kevin Tuyau delivered the packs to the Backpack 4 Kids Victoria head office. Written by Karuna Santosa - Swinburne University of Technology Research Assistant, Pro-Vice Chancellor’s Office of Student Engagement When I received a letter in the mail informing me I was invited to join the Golden Keys International Honour Society, I was quite surprised.  I had heard of the society before but I was not aware of what it did or what it stood for as a society.  The letter provided me information about a new members’ event which I was invited to attend.  I was not sure why I was receiving an invite at this stage of my studies, my marks had always been strong and my average score was steady.  So I decided to ask staff at Swinburne whether they thought it was worth paying $100 to join the society.  Interestingly enough, everyone I spoke too encouraged me to join because they believed it was a great networking opportunity.  I decided to find out more about the society before committing myself to the new members’ event.  I did this by ...
